Our first home purchase was in Oakland, California in September of 2009. It was a run down, simplistic craftsman in a transitioning neighborhood featuring challenges on every front. At the time, it was the best we could do and we certainly gave it our all. The poor thing was an onion of rot from years of neglect. But we persevered with strong muscles and mojo and some great help along the way. Our daughter was born here and this home will always represent beginnings to me.
